Always Home: Fanny Singer and Alice Waters in Conversation with Ruth Reichl

Apr 7, 2020

Culinary icon Alice Waters and her daughter, writer Fanny Singer, talk about Singer’s mouthwatering new memoir, Always Home: A Daughter’s Recipes and Stories, and the many ways in which food, family, and home can nourish us.

The executive chef, founder, and owner of Chez Panisse and founder of the Edible Schoolyard Project, Alice Waters has studied and influenced our relationship with food for decades. As her daughter, writer Fanny Singer grew up in a unique world of food, wine, and travel, filled with colorful characters, mouth-watering traditions, and sumptuous feasts, which she recounts in her new memoir. Funny, loving, and unsentimental, Singer's stories and recipes from childhood and her own culinary coming-of-age reveal a side of her legendary mother that has never been seen before and the power of food and family.

Now, at a time when many of us are staying home, join Alice Waters and Fanny Singer, in conversation with the acclaimed chef and food writer Ruth Reichl, as they share insights into the bond between mother and daughter, the importance of food and the rituals around it, tips on cooking at home, and reminiscences from Chez Panisse over the years.

Copies of Always Home are available for purchase from Kitchen Arts & Letters with a bookplate signed by the author.

This event is part of our Kitchen Arts & Letters series. In collaboration with the esteemed culinary bookstore, we present talks, demos and tastings with leading cookbook authors, chefs, food historians and farmers.
