Bring the beloved Shakespeare classic, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, to life in your classroom!
Students will receive an immersive, one-of-a-kind, theatrical and literary experience. Students will be able to explore, analyze, evaluate, and interpret the story of A Midsummer Night’s Dream through this dramatic residency. The workshop will culminate with a field trip to 92NY to view a performance of A Midsummer Night’s Dream followed by a Q&A with the cast.
Students will understand the language and story of this Shakespearean classic along with the creative and development process with a focus on A Midsummer Night’s Dream, using 92NY’s production of Midsummer as a template; as such, they will be able to:
- Outline the story of A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
- Extend their knowledge of the story through literacy, drama, dance, and music.
- Analyze the thematic concepts of the play and the characters in the play citing textual evidence and applying to their dramatic interpretations.
- Apply basic theatrical skills and dance elements to the creative and development process using Laban Movement Analysis (LMA) Effort Qualities; and assemble, devise, and dramatize a mini-performance interpretation of A Midsummer Night’s Dream utilizing the learned skills.
- Assess and compare the text, and their interpretation, with the full performance of 92NY’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
Each class participating in the program receives:
