Ignite your students’ imagination through theater and creative movement!
This residency will provide students in Kindergarten and Grade 1 with an immersive, one-of-a-kind, theatrical experience. Using 92NY’s original Theater for Young Audiences (TYA) production of Messy Millie as a reference, students will be able to:
- Act out social emotional learning skills through dramatic and artistic activities
- Use and practice body awareness through creative movement
- Discover, name, and relate themes, skills, and characters in Messy Millie
- Explore and engage in Millie’s story through original song and dance from the show
The workshop will culminate with a field trip to 92NY to view a performance of Messy Millie followed by a Q&A with the cast.
Each class participating in the program receives:
- Four in-person lessons with a 92NY Musical Theater Teaching Artist
- Attendance at a live performance of 92NY’s TYA production of Messy Millie in 92NY’s Buttenwieser Hall
- Original teaching materials for partnering classroom teachers
