Advanced Workshop and Master Class Submission Guidelines:
Here are our available spring 2025 Advanced Writing Courses:
Advanced Poetry with Richie Hofmann
Advanced Poetry with Maya Catherine Popa
Advanced Fiction with Matthew Thomas
Advanced Poetry with Elizabeth Metzger
Applications should consist of maximum:

Manuscripts for Advanced Fiction with Matthew Thomas must be received by February 10 at 5 pm.

For students ages 15–18, applications should consist of maximum:
5 typed pages of poetry (only one poem per page) OR prose (double-spaced)
Combinations (ie: 2 poems, 3 pages of a story) are welcome.
There is no fee for Young Writers Workshop applicants.
Scholarships
Please submit your scholarship application for ANY COURSE when you submit your manuscript. You can do so by emailing the Scholarship center directly, or, if you are applying by mail or in person, include it in the envelope with your submission.
How to Apply
For all courses, we accept manuscripts through Submittable, by mail, or dropped off at 92Y in person.
Online:
Enter your address, email, phone number, and biographical information in the Cover Letter field. Indicate courses you are applying to in the Workshops field.
Acceptance and Registration
Students will be notified via email. (So please, include your email in your contact information!)
The typical wait period to hear back is two weeks: we want to give your instructors time to read the application manuscripts carefully.
Once accepted, we ask students to register promptly so that notification of wait-listed students, instructors and those not accepted is not delayed. If it turns out you are unable to take the class as planned, please alert the Poetry Center so that someone from the wait-list may take your spot. If you have already registered, please refer to 92NY’s refund policies.
We may combine information you've shared with us through your application, ticketing and donor history at 92nd Street Y, along with publicly available information to enhance and personalize our communications with you about events that may be of interest to you, or for other promotional purposes.
