This online advanced workshop is designed to help you generate and edit multiple new drafts throughout the course of our four meetings.
We will close-read poems based around a theme (confession, poetic retellings, the natural world) which we will then use as models for short writing exercises. We workshop student work, with a focus on making our poems stick in the mind. Poets read will include Louise Glück, Jorie Graham, Jane Hirshfield, Frank O’Hara, Danez Smith and Ocean Vuong.
Class takes place online on February 16, 23, March 2 and 9.
Enrollment is limited to 12 students.
Students are chosen by Maya Catherine Popa on the basis of a manuscript submission. Applications must be received by Friday, January 31 at 5 pm. View the submission guidelines and submit an application for this class.
Scholarship assistance is available. Applications must be returned to Scholarship Services at least two weeks before the first session.
