Bring the UnConvention to Your Campus

Help U.S. and international students on your campus join a global discussion about the 2016 U.S. presidential election.

Interested in participating? Let us know by signing up for information! We’ll be sharing resources and hosting webinars on how you can be a part of the UnConvention.

Ways to get involved:

  • Hold meetings, town halls, and panel discussion that bring students – both U.S. and international - together around issues like social justice, immigration reform, gun control, and beyond. Your campus will become a part of the network of satellite events and community meet-ups at cultural institutions, community centers, universities and colleges happening around the country throughout September and October.
  • Organize UnConvention watch parties on your campus. From October 17-21, the UnConvention will culminate in a series of high-profile discussions and performances streamed through Facebook Live. Get students together to watch these events – then host a discussion afterwards.
  • Encourage students on your campus to participate in the UnConvention quizzes, polls and “World Vote” on Facebook, where millennials around the world will state their choice for the next President of the United States and be part of a worldwide conversation about the meaning of the 2016 US election to young people across the globe. Visit The UnConvention Quiz to participate.

Be recognized for your work:

  • When you stream your event via Facebook live and use the #TheUnConvention. UnConvention partners like the 92nd Street Y, Mic, PRI and IIE may promote and/or share select streams on their Facebook pages.
  • Let us know you are hosting an event in advance and Public Radio International (PRI) may highlight your campus on a local station by sending a reporter to talk to students and cover your UnConvention meeting. Email IIE’s Communications Manager, Nikki Lebenson Angulo at to give us a heads up.
  • Especially for administrators from schools that are IIE Network Members: Let IIE know how you brought together U.S. and international students through the UnConvention and you could win a free pass to IIE’s Annual Best Practices International Education Conference. Email IIE’s Communications Manager, Nikki Lebenson Angulo if you have questions.
