Min Choi, born in Seoul, Korea, is a Brooklyn-based Ceramic artist. She received her MFA in Ceramics from Kent State University and her BFA in Ceramics from the State University of New York at New Paltz, and a BA in Industrial design in Korea. She has taught as well as many studios around the USA and South Korea. She taught as an adjunct professor at the University of Akron and currently teaching at Hofstra University, 92NY, The Clay Space, and The Brick House. Her ceramic work inspires functionality related to food, culture, and their artistic movement in our history in how we live our everyday lives. Her style of work is a collaboration of classic ceramics with a design background, throws, and altered surface decoration forms. She admires products made up of three things; water, clay, and fire which gives fundamental similarities that connect functional pottery with everyday human life.

Katie Coughlin received her MFA from The Ohio State University(2018) and her BFA from Alfred University (2010). Katie has been an Artist in Resident at Red Lodge Clay Center and Watershed Center for the Ceramic Arts. She has received multiple awards most recently a 2020 NYSCA/NYFA Artist Fellowship. Katie's practice focuses on handbuilt vessels alongside performance and installation. A native New Yorker, Katie returned to the city in 2018 and lives and works in Brooklyn.

Carol Cutler currently teaches ceramics in the Art Center's afterschool program and in the 60+ Program of 92nd Street Y. In addition, she is director of Ceramics for the Y Camps at the Henry Kaufman Campgrounds, where she developed art programs for special-needs children. In conjunction with the American Craft Museum, Carol developed programs to bring art education in the NYC public schools. Carol has also taught art at the Trinity School Day Camp, the Calhoun School and the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. Her work has been shown at the Philadelphia College of Textiles and Science, the Paley Design Center, Wallingford Community Art Center and Arteffects Gallery in Philadelphia. She received a BA degree from the University of Pennsylvania.

Sarah Emond has a M.A. New York University in sculpture. Emond works professionally as both a sculptor and functional ceramist. She works primarily on individual commissions and designing unique ceramic pieces for culinary photo shoots. Her work is held in private collections in the U.S and in Germany. Emond lives and works in New York City. Sarah has taught at Crafts Students League, Jewish Community Center, City College and Hunter College. She teaches corporate classes and private lessons at 92Y.

Shauna Fahley is a figurative ceramic sculptor from Seattle, Washington. She received her Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Washington in 2017 and earned her Master of Fine Arts in ceramics from Alfred University in 2021. Her main body of work consists of life size horse monuments. The objective of the work is to reconfigure the equine icon as a vehicle for understanding empathy beyond ourselves and the greater consciousness of humanity. Her goal as an art educator is to facilitate a safe environment to grow, take creative risks and develop new skills.

Vicki Finkel teaches ceramics in the 92NY Art Center’s afterschool program, and has been in the ceramics department for over 10 years. She has created and run the Clay Arts program for the 92NY Program for Cognitive Strength and Ability, and has designed and implemented a hands-on, guided Family Arts Program to foster creativity and strengthen family connections. Vicki has worked with master potters with residencies around the world, including in Korea, and Japan, and has been a visiting teaching artist in numerous other Asian and Eastern European countries. She was a Presidential Scholarship recipient at the Anderson Ranch Arts Center, in Colorado. A Brown University Alumna, after working years as a freelance journalist in Africa, including for the New York Times and CNN, Vicki received an MSW degree, and became a psychotherapist. In addition to having a private psychotherapy practice, Vicki is a dedicated teacher and exhibited artist. Her work has been shown in numerous exhibitions, including the recent, A Taste of Home, juried by Julia Galloway, in Port Chester, NY, and The Teapot Show, in Providence Rhode Island.

Veronica Frenning received her BFA from the Rhode Island School of Design and MFA from Cranbrook Academy of Art. She has taught ceramics classes at Abrons Arts Center/Henry Street Settlement, City College of New York, SUNY Nassau Community College, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and Hudson Guild. Veronica has participated in residencies at The Edward F. Albee Foundation, Bamboo Curtain Studio in Taipei, Abrons Arts Center, Lower Manhattan Cultural Council SPARC and Robert Blackburn Printmaking Workshop. She has also completed the Artist in the Marketplace program at the Bronx Museum of the Arts and is a recipient of a Jerome Travel and Study Grant. Her recent work has been exhibited at Blackburn 20|20, Proteus Gowanus, Wave Hill, Galerija Palach, Kunsthalle Galapagos, Abrons Arts Center and MASS MoCA. She lives and works in Brooklyn.

David Gibson received his MFA from Louisiana State University (1996) and his BFA from University of the Arts in Philadelphia (1990). He did a residency at the University of the Arts (1991). His work has been shown in juried and in invitational exhibitions throughout the United States. Currently, he teaches various wheel and hand building classes throughout New York City to all age groups. In addition to teaching at The 92nd Street Y, he also teaches at Greenwich House Pottery, Barrow Street Nursery School, The Arts Program at West Side Y, The Spence School and the City College of New York. David’s own work primarily focuses on wheel throwing ceramics.

Meiasha is an artist based in New York, born in Detroit Michigan. Meiasha uses research Evidence, and stories of familial communion within Black domestic space to inform their relationship with various objects, practices and people and has been using clay work and ceramics to extend that practice for many years. As a teacher Meiasha engages students in learning the behavior and foundational technical aspects of clay to build their own creative process with the material by setting formal aesthetic goals that represent their desired outcomes. Their skill set ranges anywhere from wheel throwing, building sculpture or fixing flaws.

They graduated with a BFA from Sierra Nevada College with concentration in ceramics in 2019 and has since attended artist residencies at The Anderson Ranch arts center 2019, Greenwhich house pottery 2021, and Brooklyn Clay 2023. They have shown in the Jane Hartsook gallery 2022 NY,NY, The Holland project 2019 Reno, NV. The Holman arts center 2018 Incline Village, NV.

Noah Heil (he/they) first fell in love with clay while attending Macalester College in his home state of Minnesota, where he studied Studio Art, Spanish & Portuguese. Noah has since continued to refine their craft and practice while working as an instructor, technician, production potter, and fabricator in various ceramics studios between the Twin Cities and NYC. Often incorporating both wheel-throwing and handbuilding techniques, Noah enjoys making work that evokes transformative and ephemeral qualities. Noah enjoys guiding others toward finding and expressing their voice in the language of clay.

Julie Knight is the co-owner of JAK POT Studio in the Catskills of NY. A graduate of the Ringling College of Art and Design, was awarded an internship in New York City from the AICAD 1990, the Anna Siok Award for Ceramics in 1999 and was the recipient of the 2009 Mary Blakeley Fellowship at the Haystack School of Crafts in Deer Isle Maine. Presented work at Martha Stewart’s “American Made Maker’s Summit 2016” at Martha Stewart’s headquarters in Chelsea, NY.

Kay Kojima is a Japanese American ceramicist, born and bred in NYC. She has been working in clay for over 10 years, and teaches adult wheel throwing and hand building classes at 92NY and at BKLYN CLAY. She creates both functional and sculptural works inspired by stories and the environment and the way they influence our lives. Her work has been in several exhibitions and is also sold at stores in NYC. Her former career was spent working for Interior Design magazine managing multiple events, tradeshows, and producing several books. With her skill set, she has helped to manage and grow the annual ceramic sale at 92NY bringing the ceramic department community together. @kayk_ceramics

Carol Grocki Lewis has been on the faculty at the 92nd Street Y since 1995. She earned her M.A. in Museum Studies and Art History from the Gallatin Division at New York University in 1992 and her B.S. in Art Education from SUNY College at Buffalo. She has been a teaching ceramic artist from 92nd Street Y at P.S. 37 (River East K-5) in East Harlem (An Empire State Partnership). In addition to teaching at 92Y, Lewis has taught ceramics and art at Earthworks, Marymount Manhattan College and various public and private schools. Her work was most recently included in an exhibit, History in the Making: Ceramic Traditions and Contemporary Pots in Rochester, NY and received an honorable mention from the juror, Ron Meyers. Her work has also been included in Strictly Functional Ceramics Exhibits.

New York City based artist, Wren Macdonald, uses gestural animal motifs to create ceramic installations, illustrations, and poetry. Her work is highly influenced by the Colorado mountains she grew up around. Wren focuses on tension, quietness, anxiety, intimacy, and vastness in her works.

Liam Maillaro has been working in depth with clay since he was 15, when he fell in love with the wheel in my high school sculpture course. Fortunately, he was able to pursue ceramics, along with printmaking and drawing for his undergraduate degree at Alfred University for Art & Design. For many years post undergrad, he worked in designer ceramics on both the production and management end.

In 2015 he started teaching pottery classes for adults and has been in love with it ever since! He’s been lucky enough to work with students from all experience backgrounds and feels very thankful to continue instructing at the 92NY. For Liam, it’s important to address what each individual student needs to better their understanding of the ceramic process.

Verdiana Patacchini is an Italian visual artist specializing in painting and ceramic sculpture. Originally from the Tuscia region, she is now based in New York City as a naturalized American.

She holds a BA in Painting and a MFA in the Enhancement and Conservation of Contemporary Art Heritage, both from the Academy of Fine Art Via Ripetta of Rome. She also taught Painting as an Assistant Professor and taught Fresco Techniques at the Academy of Fine Art, ABAV, in Viterbo, Italy.

Verdiana’s work has been exhibited globally in galleries and institutions, including the Consulate General of Italy in New York, the Katzen Arts Center at American University in Washington, D.C., Salon Beau Regard in Yverdon Les Bains, Switzerland, the Emmeotto Gallery in Rome, the Central Park Tower in New York, and Future Fair in New York.

Her artistic contribution has been acknowledged by The Wall Street Journal, which reviewed Verdiana’s work as one of the highlights of her work at the Future Fair 2023, presented by Superzoom Gallery in New York. Additionally, she is among the winners of the Tri-State Art Prize 2023, organized by the Italian Consulate and the Italian Cultural Institute of New York.

JJ Peet is an artist who originally trained in clay while studying for his BFA from the University of Minnesota. He went on to receive his MFA from the prestigious Yale School of Art. Peet’s work includes ceramics, sculpture, video, painting, actions and drawing. He focuses on both the formalism and craft of object making, and builds works which tell the story of their respective mediums.

Andrew Robinson is an interdisciplinary artist. His roots in ceramics began early on while working in an eight-year apprenticeship in a production pottery informed by Anglo-Japanese traditions. There he learned the art of throwing, Raku-style firing, and repairing tea bowls with lacquer and gold, a Japanese repair method known as Kintsugi. Elevating brokenness into beauty intrigues him and has evolved into elaborate surface designs that layer printed underglazes, slip, and sgraffito. Andrew studied ceramics at the Glasgow School of Art and the Maryland Institute College of Art, BFA; and he received an MFA in painting from the School of Visual Arts.

His work has been featured in Maake, and Sculpture Magazines, Hyperallergic, etc. He has presented his work in over 100 exhibitions including as a participating artist in Debtfair at the Whitney Biennial; the U.K. Crafts Council in London; the French Consulate in NY; and his work was acquired by the Ross Art Museum in Ohio. In 2023 he received a grant from the Queens Arts Council to fund research into printmaking and ceramics culminating in a solo exhibition at the Ben Shahn Center for the Arts. Andrew teaches and lectures on art, craft, and design. He is a member of the faculty at Parsons School of Design, Marymount Manhattan College, and Greenwich House Pottery. He has been a visiting artist at Columbia University, School of Visual Arts, Pratt, and Brooklyn College, et al. He lives and works in NYC.

Josh Schutz (b. La Crosse, WI) is a queer artist living and working in New York City. He attended Minnesota State University, Mankato (BA 2016, MA 2018) and Alfred University (MFA 2020). Schutz is currently a Visiting Assistant Professor at Pratt Institute and works out of his Brooklyn studio.

Schutz has exhibited in museums nationally and has taught numerous workshops and classes at community art centers across Minnesota and New York. Schutz’s work focuses on the figure as self-portrait connecting the past with the future using traditional techniques and technology to shape the outcome. His work maps a life at the wheel, rolling and building with coils, 3-D printing clay, and making molds. These processes are often blended into singular works.

Isabelle Yaron is a French potter trained the old fashioned way with different ceramic artists. Trained as a classical pianist, she found pottery by chance to later realize that her music background was able to feed her visual work. She is influenced by ancient ceramics and drawn by the harmony between the form and the mineralization created by the kiln fire. She is fascinated by artifact restoration and archaeology.
