Zionism Today: David Ben-Gurion
Author, lecturer, and philosopher Dr. Eugene Borowitz explores contemporary Zionism through the words of David Ben-Gurion, the first and, at the time of this recording, current prime minister of Israel. This lecture is part of a series exploring the modern Jewish identity. Borowitz discusses Ben-Gurion’s definition of a modern Zionist as “a person who comes to live in the state of Israel.” He explores the implications of that definition for those who identify as Zionists but live outside of Israel and do not plan to move there. Borowitz considers what it can mean to be a Zionist in the modern world, particularly in the United States. The lecture is followed with questions from the audience.
