“An astounding feat of creative musicianship” wrote The New Yorker’s Alex Ross about pianist-composer Matan Porat’s musical improvisations to silent films. Porat joined us in our hall in January 2016 to perform a completely improvised original score accompanying a screening of the Buster Keaton silent movie Orson Welles called, “perhaps the greatest film ever made.” See the film and hear Porat’s extraordinary score—full of humor and tragedy and whimsy and imagination—in this premiere screening of that brilliant 2016 performance.
