Chopin: Ballade No. 4 in F Minor—Benjamin Hochman

Nov 22, 2019

Benjamin Hochman, piano
Ballade No. 4 in F Minor, Op. 52 composed in 1843
Frédéric Chopin (1810-1849)

Chopin’s Fourth Ballade is based on Adam Mickiewicz’s The Three Budrys, a poem about three brothers sent away by their father to seek treasure, and their return with three Polish wives instead. The richness of Chopin’s music seems to go far beyond the initial literary inspiration.
—Benjamin Hochman

Recorded during Benjamin Hochman’s Soundspace recital in 92Y’s Buttenwieser Hall on November 22, 2019.
