America 1900 - America 2000: On the Cusp of the Centuries

Jan 26, 1999

Documentary and television news producer Judy Chrichton gives a presentation about the innovations and changes that America has experienced throughout the twentieth century. She discusses changes to traditional values within the American household, the changing role of women, and the rise of psychiatry. Chrichton also talks about the increasing prevalence of technology, such as the telephone, in our everyday lives, as well as the influx of immigrants, changes to child labor, and the impacts of both World Wars on America. The lecture is followed by audience questions.

The Preservation of and Increased Access to the 92nd Street Y Humanities Audio Archives is generously funded by the National Endowment for the Humanities: Democracy demands wisdom.
