This intensive, two-term class is designed for students with memoirs in progress. In addition to sharing a project overview and outline, each person will submit two excerpts from their manuscript—one in the fall and one in the spring—for close reading and group discussion.
There will be weekly craft-based discussions on topics such as story development, voice, and style as well as reading assignments from a diverse array of published work. Students’ first assignment will be submitting detailed description and outline a week before, which all students will read before the first session.
Class meets on Tuesdays: October 22, 29, November 5, 12, and 19; then January 28, February 4, 11, 18, and 25.
Enrollment is limited to 12 students.
Students are chosen on the basis of a manuscript submission. Applications must be received by Thursday, October 10 at 5 pm. View the submission guidelines and submit an application for this class.
Scholarship assistance is available. Applications must be returned to Scholarship Services at least two weeks before the first session.
