During 7 Days of Genius, GMin’s Innovation Lab (InLab) members will work on prototypes for smart schools, smart cities and smart homes that steer communities to low and high-tech solutions that address immediate community needs. The NYC FIRST STEM CENTER will be holding a one day Python and Raspberry Pi Hackathon with the students we serve. Together we will work to examine our MakerSpace’s relationship to the community of Roosevelt Island, a group which we are now a member of. We will identify problem areas in our outreach and communications, work together to propose solutions, and choose one solution to prototype using Python and Raspberry Pi. This is Hackathon will encourage our students to consider their responsibilities as community members in this space and on this island.
