Improve your drawing ability and get comfortable drawing digitally.
In this class your iPad will be your sketchbook, the blank white screen, your paper, your stylus and Procreate your pencil and paint. You’ll learn the basics (layers, opacities, brushes, colors, saving, etc.) and become more comfortable with your digital tools while learning the foundations of drawing. The class will simplify the digital drawing process by forcing you to use only a few brushes, a limited color palette and few layers and effects. All levels are welcome but if you haven’t taken the class before, the first hour of you first class will be devoted to getting familiar with your device and Procreate. Before the start of class, please take time to familiarize yourself with your device and software - no need to be proficient.
We’ll start from a white screen and build drawings the same as you would traditional drawings, (This class does not cover photo editing, short cuts, or complex digital tricks). Each class will start with an exercise and demo, but most of your time will be spent drawing and finishing short sketches and medium length drawings. We’ll look at examples of other digital artists in the fine arts and illustration for inspiration as you create your digital sketchbook. In this class you will strengthen your skill using a stylus, adapt your sensitivity to working on a screen, and share the experience of art through drawing.
