How would you prioritize the recovery of Arts and Culture, and what steps would you put in place to get the sector back up and running as Mayor?”

“Despite federal stimulus dollars coming into the City, there remains a massive deficit projected for the outyear in our budget. How will you balance the budget in the most effective way to ensure the city still runs smoothly? Where will the savings come from?”

Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams was born in Brownsville, Brooklyn and raised in South Jamaica, Queens--one of six children raised by a single mom who cleaned houses. As a young man, Eric dealt with many of the same hardships of other New Yorkers: he faced homelessness, hunger and brutality at the hands of police. But instead of giving into anger, Eric turned his pain into purpose and decided to change the police department from within. He joined the NYPD and became one of its most outspoken officers, calling out racism and bias in the department and pushing for major reforms. He also put himself through school, earning undergraduate and graduate degrees. From the NYPD, he moved on to the State Senate, where he pushed through measures to protect tenants and workers, improve public safety, and advance human rights, including marriage equality. Eric was then elected Brooklyn Borough President in 2013 by putting together a diverse coalition of Brooklynites to become the borough’s first Black leader. Since, Eric has fought tirelessly to grow the local economy, reduce inequality, improve public safety, and advocate for smart policies and better government that delivers for all New Yorkers.

Seth Pinsky

Seth Pinsky is CEO of the 92nd St. Y. At 92Y, Pinsky is developing an action plan for 92Y heading into its 150th anniversary, which will include a comprehensive upgrade of its Manhattan home. Previously, Pinsky was an EVP at RXR Realty, where he led RXR’s efforts to invest in “emerging opportunities” in the New York region. Earlier, Pinsky oversaw the development of Mayor Bloomberg’s $20 billion plan to protect New York from climate change impacts and, from 2008 to 2013, was President of the New York City Economic Development Corporation. Pinsky started his career as an associate at Cleary, Gottlieb, Steen & Hamilton and analyst at James D. Wolfensohn Inc. He graduated from Columbia College and Harvard Law.
