Climate Change and Democracy

Dr. Sheila Foster and Maxine Joselow

Dec 9, 2024

With extreme weather events, resource scarcity and environmental degradation, climate change is no longer a future threat but a current one to today's way of life. How can democracies respond effectively to the climate crisis? What role do citizens play in shaping climate policies and how do we ensure those most affected by environmental impacts have a voice in the decision-making process?

Dr. Sheila Foster is a tenured professor of climate at the Climate School and an affiliated faculty member at Columbia Law School. Maxine Joselow covers climate change and the environment for the Washington Post, with a focus on U.S. climate policy and politics.
