Q&A with Sandra Cisneros and Azar Nafisi

Oct 7, 2015

The strength of love, the marvel of endurance and the power of generations—Sandra Cisneros sings to my blood,” wrote Dorothy Allison. Thirty years after The House on Mango Street, Sandra Cisneros publishes A House of My Own, a patchwork memoir of personal, political and literary pieces that span her career.

She is joined by Azar Nafisi, author of Reading Lolita in Tehran, who discusses her favorite American novels in The Republic of Imagination: America in Three Books. “She is a master essayist who sinuously weaves together elements of memoir, criticism, biography and history,” wrote Laura Miller. “No one writes better or more stirringly about the way books shape a reader’s identity.”
