State of New York — Public Education & NYC

Eva Moskowitz, Brigid Bergin, Nicole Gelinas, Errol Louis and 92NY CEO Seth Pinsky

Jan 29, 2024

Join us for a conversation with Eva Moskowitz, the Founder and CEO of Success Academy Charter Schools, and 92NY CEO Seth Pinsky, exploring the state of public education in New York.

The New York City public school system is the largest in the United States. More than 1.1 million students are taught in more than 1,700 public schools with a budget of nearly $25 billion. The pandemic led to an enrollment crisis, and the Governor recently announced an overhaul to the ways we educate children in New York. What do the current challenges tell us about the state of education in New York, and how are those mirrored across the country?

Journalists Nicole Gelinas, Errol Louis, and Brigid Bergin will then bring their insightful perspectives to the table as they engage in a dynamic unpacking of the issues discussed. Together, they will explore current challenges to the public education system, and what innovation and investing in public education can mean for New York City.
