After award-winning translations of Tolstoy, Dostoevsky, Chekhov and Gogol, the team of Richard Pevear and Larissa Volokhonsky now takes on the father of Russian literature, Alexander Pushkin. In the newly published Novels, Tales, Journeys: The Complete Prose of Alexander Pushkin, they present their versions of his brilliant, wide-ranging stories, which include “The Queen of Spades,” The Tales of the Late Ivan Petrovich Belkin and The Captain’s Daughter. The evening will be introduced by Elif Batuman, author of The Possessed: Adventures with Russian Books and the People Who Read Them and The Idiot, a forthcoming novel. Ms. Batuman returns after the talk to interview Mr. Pevear and Ms. Volokhonsky.
