Discoveries from the Electronic Frontier
James Gleick, editor and reporter for The New York Times, speaks about his new book, What Just Happened: A Chronicle from the Electronic Frontier (2002). Gleick discusses the increasing disarray of the online world, including the prevalence of email spam, the consequences of online anonymity, and misinformation on the internet. He argues that in the fast-changing contemporary world, “we need to remember to check our collective pulse once in a while” and evaluate the issues we encounter at the forefront of technology. The lecture is followed with questions from the audience.
