Inspired by the memories of a political prisoner in 1950s Yugoslavia, More Than I Love My Life, the new novel from David Grossman, tells the story of three generations of women on an unlikely journey from Israel to the “Adriatic Alcatraz” to confront the shared trauma of their family’s past.

“Nobody can see the political in the personal like David Grossman. He is an interpreter of hearts and an investigator of social forces,” writes Juan Gabriel Vásquez. “Every book he writes is a revelation.”
