A Celebration of Ursula K. Le Guin

Jan 31, 2019

On January 31, 2019, the Poetry Center celebrated the life and work of Ursula K. Le Guin with four of her fellow writers, who read from her work and shared stories of her life and legacy. Luis Alberto Urrea read “The Ones Who Walk Away from Omelas;” Karen Joy Fowler, the essay, “Without Egg;” Michael Chabon read “Initiation Song” and “Imaginary Countries;”and N. K. Jemisin read “The Operating Instructions.” The evening opened and closed with 92Y archival recordings of Le Guin herself, reading the poem “Peace” and a selection from her late novel, Lavinia.
