Joycelyn M. Taylor is proud to be born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. She grew up in New York City Housing Authority’s Louis H. Pink Houses in East New York, where her family was one of the first African-Americans to move into NYCHA in 1959. Grounded by her roots, which trace back to South Carolina where her mother grew up during tough times believing — root hog or die — this approach was her family’s way of life, so Joycelyn is no stranger to hardship, toughness and adversity. As the youngest girl in a family of nine, she was taught to be self-sufficient and independent. Joycelyn M. Taylor is the CEO of TaylorMade Contracting LLC, a general contracting firm specializing in residential, commercial and public works. Taylor is also the Founder and Chair of the New York City MWBE (Minority Women Business Enterprises) Alliance, whose mission is to assist minority and women-owned firms in overcoming challenges related to obtaining access to opportunities on the federal, state and city levels. Joycelyn M. Taylor is the modern progressive Democratic Mayoral candidate advocating for the more than 600,000 NYCHA residents in New York’s tri-state area as well as all of the others in underserviced communities. Joycelyn attended the Brooklyn campus of Long Island University where she obtained a BS Degree in Business Management and Marketing with a minor in Psychology, as well as a MBA in Business Administration. She currently resides in Bedford Stuyvesant, Brooklyn with her son Justin Taylor.
