Taking a deep-dive into the operatic canon, students will explore the vast and rich history of this enduring art form.
Focusing on major composers and works such as Beethoven (Fidelio), Bizet (Carmen), Tchaikovsky (Eugene Onegin), Massenet (Manon), Offenbach (Les Contes d’Hoffmann), Stravinsky (The Rake’s Progress), Berg (Wozzeck), and many more. Students will come away with a new appreciation for opera.
No previous experience required. This class is an extension of Opera History I, however is open to all new students who have interest in the art form!

With repertoire ranging from baroque to Broadway, favorite roles include Amalia in She Loves Me, Jo March in the musical Little Women, Jessie in Mahagonny Songspiel, Papagena in The Magic Flute and the title role in Alcina.
A concert and cabaret performer, Gina recently made her Lincoln Center solo debut at David Geffen Hall with the National Chorale.
A native of Pittsburgh, PA, Gina holds a B.M. in Vocal Performance, an M.S.J. in Journalism, and a Certificate for Departmental Excellence in Music Theatre from Northwestern University. She received her M.M. in Vocal Performance from San Francisco Conservatory of Music.
