The Concerts Schools Project enhances music education for students at NYC public high schools through attendance at live performances in 92NY’s world-class Concerts Series and participation in classroom workshops led by professional performing artists. This free program cultivates audience-going habits and a lifelong love of music.
In collaboration with school-based music teachers, 92NY designs original lessons that connect students’ course of study in band, orchestra, guitar, vocal arts and piano with the works and artists featured at 92NY. Hands-on, pre-concert lessons led by 92NY Teaching Artists introduce students to the works and musical traditions featured at the 92NY Concerts that students attend throughout the school year.
Each academic year, students and their teachers receive:
“In a city full of cultural offerings, 92NY goes the extra mile to make the experiences meaningful for students and to assist teachers, a population that has perpetually full plates, with extreme generosity.” David West, orchestra director at Celia Cruz Bronx High School of Music

“92NY has provided me the opportunity to bring my students to New York’s premiere guitar concert series, 92NY’s Art of the Guitar. Virtually none of my students has ever been to a live music performance. Programs like 92NY’s Concerts Schools Project are the only opportunity most of these students have to experience live music. The performances are deeply meaningful for the students. I can see how transfixed they are during the concerts, and they continue to talk about the artists and specific pieces well afterwards. This program is clearly opening their minds and expanding their cultural horizons.” Jesse Miller, former guitar instructor, James Madison High School

“I can’t think of anything that could have been done better to make the evening any more special. The performance was amazing. I love the pieces Jennifer Koh played and the energy and emotion she put into the music.” String student, Edward R. Murrow High School in Brooklyn
