JUSTIN GOLDNER
ACOUSTIC GUITAR/BANJO
Music producer, orchestrator, and session musician Justin Goldner has been fortunate to make music with Sting, Ricky Martin, Macy Gray, Shawn Mendes, Tori Kelly, Donald Glover, Bruce Springsteen, James Taylor, Natasha Bedingfield, Renée Fleming, Ledisi, Jordin Sparks, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Ariana DeBose, Stephen Sondheim, Hugh Jackman, T-Bone Burnett, Aloe Blacc, Lizzy McAlpine, Anaïs Mitchell, J.C. Chasez and Lance Bass (NSYNC), Max Martin, Alan Menken, Ben Platt, Audra McDonald, Steve Martin, Chris Thile, Jane Monheit, Twyla Tharp, Ryan Beatty, Darren Criss, Will Butler (Arcade Fire), Lawrence, and many others.
Goldner draws upon both organic and electronic textures in crafting sonic tapestries for pop artists, music for assorted media, and sonic design for theater and art installations. Production credits include Tori Kelly and Ariana DeBose, while his work on Grace McLean’s debut album, My Lovely Enemy, threads together disparate sonic elements to form a patchwork of inviting songs that keep listeners on their toes.
As a creator for film and television, Goldner draws on an arsenal of plucked string instruments amassed through world travels, introducing unfamiliar textures in novel ways. Collaborations with artists from a variety of artistic traditions, including renowned Bollywood composers Shankar Mahadevan and Vishal Bhardwaj, as well Latin Grammy-winning Venezuelan artist Linda Briceño, have demonstrated a wide cultural vocabulary for artistic collaboration. As a restless traveler, peripatetic New Yorker, and “language junkie,” music has taken Goldner to 47 states and 69 countries, including Iran and South Africa, where he has performed and engaged with local cultures, conducted workshops in three languages, and exchanged experiences and music with others from across the world.
