Safiya Sinclair is the author of Cannibal, winner of a Whiting Writers’ Award, the Addison M. Metcalf Award from the American Academy of Arts and Letters, the OCM Bocas Prize for Caribbean Poetry, the Prairie Schooner Book Prize in Poetry and selected as an American Library Association’s Notable Book of the Year. Her other honors include a Dorothy Sargent Rosenberg Fellowship from the Poetry Foundation. "With exquisite lyrical precision, Sinclair is offering us a new muscular music that is as brutal as it is beautiful. Intelligent and elemental, these poems mark the debut of a poet who is dangerously talented and desperately needed,” wrote Ada Limón.
