Canadian dance artist Maddie Hanson is a graduate of The Juilliard School, accepted at the age of 16. She has worked with Jirí Pokorny, Katarzyna Skarpetowska, Stefanie Batten-Bland and Roy Assaf, and performed repertory by Martha Graham, José Limón, Crystal Pite, and RUBBERBANDance Group. She is currently a company dancer with Wyckoff Collective. Choreographically, she is interested in creating thought-provoking and innovative visual and movement content to engage audiences, working with physical dance movement in combination with elements of theatricality to make concept-driven work. Her work has been presented at Alice Tully Hall at Lincoln Center (Historical Performance/Juilliard415), Baryshnikov Arts Center (Merce Cunningham Centennial), DUMBO Dance Festival, APAP 2018 Conference, and San Francisco Conservatory of Dance’s Choreographic Residency 2017. She created for Composers and Choreographers Concert and Senior Production at Juilliard, and was commissioned for MOVE(NYC)’s 2019 Young Professionals program, selected for Joffrey Ballet School’s 2019-2020 Emerging Choreographer Series, and is a recipient of the 2019 Dance Ontario Creative Partnership. She was awarded a CreativAction Open Space residency at The National Ballet of Canada, will present with Next@Graham through the Martha Graham Dance Company and was commissioned as a 2021 Emerging Choreographer with Springboard Danse Montréal, where she will create a new work on 14+ elite international dancers. Maddie is represented by No Bad Press in Toronto and by bloc NYC.
