Laura Fortune is an artist who creates vitreous enamel jewelry, objects, and illustrations with playful designs influenced by color, humor, and popular culture. Originally from Tallahassee, Florida, Fortune attended SUNY New Paltz where she received a BFA in metals. After spending over a decade working under notable jewelry designers in New York City, she set off to develop her own artwork and to experience life abroad living in Lisbon, Portugal. Following five years in Portugal, Fortune arrived to the east end of Long Island in 2021 to accept the artist residency at the William Steeple Davis Home and Studio in Orient, NY and was awarded the Halstead Grant for small jewelry business. Fortune creates her original enamel works from her studio in Hampton Bays and Brooklyn, New York.
