Felix Pitre III, a graduate of NYU, studied at the famed Stella Adler Conservatory. It was during his tenure there that he was first exposed to social dancing. Since then, Felix has studied Lindy Hop and other vernacular jazz dances with numerous instructors, national and local, including the late great Frankie Manning, roddy Caravella, Bill Kline, Matt Bedell and Laura Jeffers. He has performed at numerous events throughout New York City, including opening for Jennifer Hudson, and in various troupes including the Big Apple Lindy Hoppers, the Lindy Hop All-Stars and The Twilight Toe Tapping Syncopaters. Felix is also a co-author of an educational song and dance show about jazz-era music and social dance that premiered in Washington, DC. Recently, he has taken his act to the New York City public schools, teaching creative movement and social dance to students of all ages. Felix currently is a teaching artist for the American Ballroom Theater’s Dancing Classrooms program, well known from the films Mad Hot Ballroom and Take the Lead. In addition, Felix is a swing instructor at You Should Be Dancing Dance Center in NYC and also teaches creative movement for boys and social ballroom dancing for teens at Every Little Movement Academy for the Arts in Hoboken, NJ.
