Fern Mallis writes: “Happy 10th anniversary, Fashion Icons! It’s hard to believe it’s been 10 years since my first Fashion Icons interview on a very rainy night with Norma Kamali. We were like old pals gabbing and catching up on my living room sofa. We almost forgot that the audience was there. Since that night, 55 Fashion Icons have taken to the stage with me (wow!). I’ve so enjoyed every one of those conversations and being part of the 92Y family!!
Next month, after an almost two year COVID hiatus, my series Fashion Icons with Fern Mallis returns to the 92nd Street Y stage with some of the hottest and buzzworthy designers working today:
Joseph Altuzarra (October 21)
Learn how this classically trained French-American ballet dancer became the man Tom Ford at his Fashion Icons interview called the designer he most admires. Talk about high praise!
Prabal Gurung (November 22)
From Nepal, to Singapore, to India, and now based in the United States, Prabal brings a world of inspiration to his celebrated work. He is never one to shy away from supporting the social causes he believes in, including using his voice to #StopAsianHate.
Brandon Maxwell (December 15)
Dressing Lady Gaga is not a bad way to get your big break. Learn more about how this Project Runway judge is also committed to dressing every person in America with his new role as Creative Director at Walmart Fashion.
This series became a reality thanks to the brilliant photographer and filmmaker Timothy Greenfield-Sanders, who introduced me to Betsy Berg, who in turn introduced me to Susan Engel at the 92nd Street Y. I am excited to start the next decade of Fashion Icons with Fern Mallis. Stay tuned for news on the captivating Fashion Icons joining me in 2022! After all, aren’t we all ready to add a little more glamour and fashion back in our lives?
