The wait is finally over! Seven years since the bestselling Fashion Icons 1: Fashion Lives with Fern Mallis book premiered in 2015, The 92nd Street Y’s resident fashion industry insider Fern Mallis is releasing its long-awaited sequel this May: Fashion Icons 2.
Published by Rizzoli, Fashion Icons 2 pairs Fern’s intimate, authentic, and unscripted live conversations with never-before-seen personal photos and artwork by pop-artist Ruben Baghdasaryan (@RubenStudios). A new edition of Fashion Icons 1 will premiere exclusively at Nordstrom, the sponsor of the Fashion Icons book series.
Fashion Icons 2 recaps 15 of Fern’s no-holds-barred conversations including: Valentino Garavani, Victoria Beckham, Christian Siriano, Leonard Lauder, Billy Porter, Iris Apfel, Bob Mackie, Zandra Rhodes, Arthur Elgort, Stan Herman, Bethann Hardison, Angela and Rosita Missoni, and Tim Gunn. And as a bonus for fans of the influential doyenne, TV personality Bevy Smith turned the tables on Fern, and their riveting conversation is included in this all-new collection.
To celebrate the new volumes of her book, Fern has invited some of the original Fashion Icons for an encore evening at The 92nd Street Y starting with iconic fashion designer Tommy Hilfiger, this time with his wife, Dee Ocleppo-Hilfiger, Creative Director of Judith Lieber and eponymous footwear, accessory and lifestyle brand, Dee Ocleppo.
Since we last spoke to Tommy in 2013, he continues to keep his namesake brand ahead of the curve through revolutionary product innovations, one-of-a kind digital fashion shows, and collaborations with next-gen tastemakers in fashion. Dee’s show-stopping accessories for Judith Leiber are a mainstay on the red carpet, including May’s annual Met Gala while her namesake collections expand into ready-to-wear and are covered across the most prestigious media titles as she bridges the gap between Italian craftsmanship and American style sensibilities.
Learn more about how Tommy and Dee are making their mark on the fashion industry together, when they join Fern on May 4.
In recognition of their ongoing partnership, a portion of Fern’s book proceeds are being donated to support The 92nd Street Y.
