For almost 150 years, The 92nd Street Y, New York has provided a range of traditional programs and opportunities for members of the Jewish community in every generation: from Jewish communal gatherings to High Holiday services and religious observances to Jewish study and education. Now, in order to be truly transformative, we must be more deliberate — and more ambitious — in our efforts to connect all Jewish people to the joys and richness of Jewish life. By expanding on existing and creating new programs, 92NY will engage those who are often disengaged from Jewish life, disconnected from their Jewish roots and from Judaism to find all the richness, joy, meaning and connection at the heart of Jewish life, culture and religion — no matter who they are or where they’re from.

Now is the time for a bold plan for expansion.

That’s why we have established the Rabbi Peter Rubinstein Fund for the Jewish Future: a Fund that will extend the breadth and depth of the work of the Bronfman Center for Jewish Life. It will impact members of 92NY’s existing Jewish community as well as significantly enhance opportunities for those who may be unaffiliated with traditional Jewish institutions and the Jewish community at large. In honor of Rabbi Peter Rubinstein's legacy, his and our commitment to the Jewish people, the Fund will ensure this vision becomes a reality.

This Fund will enable us to:

  • Enhance existing programs in education, conversation and holiday celebration, preserving and enriching Jewish life by strengthening connections with Israel and our global Jewish community.
  • Drive the development of a wide range of dynamic new programs designed to provide the kind of connection and meaning that many seek but have not yet found.
  • Create a physical and digital space to celebrate and embrace Jewish culture, making it accessible to those who don’t enter through traditional doors.
  • Raise the visibility of these new and enhanced initiatives to reach the broadest scope of Jews we aim to serve.
  • Enhance and increase the Bronfman Center's professional staff, thereby making 92NY a leader in Jewish engagement and innovation.
  • Ensure the continuation of this important work well into the future.

Our new and existing programs will provide extensive opportunities for people to deepen their connection to Jewish life in both individual and communal settings. We will bring in the widest range and largest number of people with the fewest possible barriers. Whoever you are, you’ll belong here.

With an incomparable platform and your support, 92NY is positioned to work deliberately and intensively to transform Jewish life, not just in the New York City metro area, but across America and throughout the world. With your help, we will create a stronger and more vital Jewish community and transform Jewish life at 92NY and beyond.

Plus now is an extraordinary time to support the Fund. Thanks to a generous $5 million challenge match presented by Judy and Leonard Lauder, all gifts will be doubled if we are able to secure the matching funds by December 31, 2022. We hope you will please help us take advantage of this wonderful and unique opportunity which will enable to Bronfman Center for Jewish Life to fully realize the important vision of Rabbi Peter Rubinstein.

Thank you for considering joining The 92nd Street Y, New York helping to impact our community with this timely and critical work.
