“… one of the finest pianists in the world. Few can match his unfailingly beautiful tone, effortless technical command, interpretive insight and total emotional commitment to the music he plays.”
The Washington Post
One of the giants of the piano, a leading interpreter of piano repertoire from Baroque music to the 20th century, and longtime friend of 92Y, Richard Goode brings his immense artistry, emotional power and depth to music that has been his lifelong focus. Goode's program begins with one of Bach's greatest works for keyboard, the Fourth Partita in D Major. He then brings nobility and sensitivity to Beethoven’s Sonata in A Major, Op. 101, which reveals the composer’s venture into a new emotionally expressive space, before closing with selections from Debussy’s evanescent sound paintings, Preludes. An exquisite program from one of today’s true poets of the piano.
