Following a US diplomat struggling to rebuild her life in London after a deadly explosion shatters her world, season two of The Diplomat is taut with intrigue, mystery, and suspense — and anchored by a masterful performance from Keri Russell and a stellar ensemble cast. Award-winning writer/producer Debora Cahn is the creator and showrunner of Netflix’s acclaimed drama series The Diplomat, starring Keri Russell and Rufus Sewell. Her previous credits include serving as writer and executive producer on the award-winning Showtime series Homeland, writer and producer of FX’s much-honored limited series Fosse/Verdon, writer of the HBO film Paterno, starring Al Pacino and directed by Barry Levinson, writer and co-executive producer of Martin Scorsese’s HBO series Vinyl and writer and producer on the hit ABC series Grey’s Anatomy. She began her career as a writer and producer on the landmark NBC drama The West Wing.

Cahn was most recently nominated for the Critics Choice Awards, Golden Globes and Producers Guild of America Awards in the best drama series categories for her work on The Diplomat. She was also part of the writing staff that won the Emmy Award for Outstanding Drama Series for The West Wing in 2003, and part of the writing staffs nominated for the Emmy Award for Outstanding Drama Series for The West Wing in 2006 and Grey’s Anatomy in 2007. In 2005, she won the Writers Guild of America Award for Episodic Drama for The West Wing episode “The Supremes.” Cahn won a second Writers Guild of America Award for Best Adapted Long Form Television Series for her work on Fosse/Verdon.

A familiar face to audiences worldwide, Keri Russell has starred in major motion pictures, independent films, and television shows.

Keri currently stars in the second season of Netflix’s The Diplomat, in which Keri plays the titular role of an American Ambassador in London. The first season was a critical and popular success and became one of Netflix’s most watched shows of 2023. Her performance landed her nominations for an Emmy, Golden Globe, Critics Choice and SAG Award.

On the film side, Keri most recently starred in Cocaine Bear from director Elizabeth Banks. Just before that, she starred in the supernatural horror thriller Antlers for director Scott Cooper and producer Guillermo del Toro and in Star Wars: Episode IX which reunited her with friend and director J.J. Abrams.

For six seasons Keri starred in the critically acclaimed FX series The Americans for which she received a Television Critics Association Award for Individual Achievement in Drama, three Emmy Award nominations, two Golden Globe Award nominations, six Critics’ Choice Award nominations – one win – and a Screen Actors Guild Award nomination.

Russell’s film credits include We Were Soldiers, Mad About Mambo, The Upside of Anger, Mission Impossible III, August Rush, The Girl In The Park, Bedtime Stories, Extraordinary Measures, Goats, Austenland, Dark Skies, Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes, Free State Of Jones, and the romantic comedy Waitress for which she received rave reviews.

Keri first garnered attention when she starred in the title role of the hit television series Felicity from J.J. Abrams and Matt Reeves. Just four months after the show’s acclaimed premiere on the WB, she was honored with a Golden Globe® Award for Best Performance by an Actress in a Drama Series.

Keri’s other television credits include the miniseries Into the West, executive produced by Steven Spielberg, Extrapolations and Running Wilde with Will Arnett.

Keri starred alongside Adam Driver in the Broadway revival of Lanford Wilson’s Burn This. The limited engagement play, directed by Tony Award winner Michael Mayer, opened in March 2019 and ran through July 2019. This was Russell’s return to New York theatre after making her off- Broadway stage debut in production of Neil LaBute’s Fat Pig, in 2005.

Ali Ahn is an accomplished actress with extensive experience in television, film, and theater. She currently stars in two of the highest trending shows of 2024: Netflix’s The Diplomat and the Marvel series Agatha All Along on Disney+.

Ahn stars in the hit Netflix series The Diplomat opposite Keri Russell and Rufus Sewell as the chief of the CIA station in London, ‘Eidra Park.’ The political action-thriller follows Kate Wyler (Russell), a career diplomat juggling her new high-profile job as ambassador to the United Kingdom, and turbulent marriage to a political star, amid an international crisis. Season one, which premiered April 20, 2023, immediately became Netflix’s #1 most- viewed title during its first two weeks alone. Reaching the Top 10 in 86 countries and earning 173.46M hours viewed in the four weeks following its premiere. The first season garnered nominations from the Primetime Emmy Awards, the Golden Globes, Critics’ Choice Awards, and Guild Awards such as SAG, WGA, and PGA. The eagerly awaited second season premiered October 31, 2024.

Ahn can also be seen opposite Kathryn Hahn in the Disney+ Marvel series Agatha All Along, a spinoff of the critically acclaimed fan-favorite Wandavision. The series is set after the events of its predecessor as Hahn’s ‘Agatha Harkness’ recruits some unlikely allies on her quest to regain her former powers. Ahn joins the coven as ‘Alice Wu-Gulliver,’ a protection witch burdened with a generational curse. The cast also includes Patti LuPone, Debra Jo Rupp, Aubrey Plaza, Sasheer Zamata, and Joe Locke. The series premiered on September 18, 2024. The spinoff topped Disney+’s global streaming charts with its first episode generating 9.3 million views in its debut week. Heading into the series finale, it found another peak with viewership increasing a full 35% above its premiere numbers. Additionally, Ahn found herself with a Billboard charting song as she and her castmates lend their voices to “The Ballad of the Witches’ Road,” which plays as an integral part in the coven’s journey throughout the series. The song debuted on the charts at No. 22 on Billboard’s top-selling tracks of any style in the U.S for its digital song sales.

Ahn’s television credits also include recurring roles in The Other Two, The Path, Billions, Orange is the New Black, Raising Dion, Next, The Breaks and Supernatural. Her film credits feature Lucky Grandma, Landline, Girl in the Book, and Liberal Arts.

Ahn made her Broadway debut in The Heidi Chronicles opposite Elisabeth Moss and her recent Off-Broadway credits include Rajiv Joseph’s Letters of Suresh at Second Stage, and The Great Leap at the Atlantic opposite BD Wong.

Ahn is a graduate of Yale University and the California Institute of the Arts. She is also a classically trained pianist. Although she was born and raised in Los Angeles, she now resides in Brooklyn, New York.

Essandoh can currently be seen opposite Keri Russell in Netflix Political Thriller The Diplomat, created by Debora Cahn (Homeland, Grey’s Anatomy). He plays ‘Stuart Hayford,’ Kate’s (Russell) deputy chief of mission at the US Embassy in London. He recently starred on-stage in Thomas Bradshaw’s The Seagull, amodern adaptation of the 1895 tragicomedy and on screen opposite Benicio Del Toro and Justin Timberlake in Reptile.

Other recent projects include the Netflix space-drama series Away opposite Hilary Swant, the CBS military drama The Code, the 2018 Netflix sci-fi series Altered Carbon, which was conceived, written and executive produced by Laeta Kalogridis. He is also well known for his role on NBC’s Chicago MED as African-American Jewish doctor ‘Dr. Isidore Latham.’

His other television credits include; HBO’s 1970s drama Vinyl, produced by Martin Scorsese, Terence Winter, and Mick Jagger; BBC America’s Copper Elementary, Person of Interest, The Good Wife, and Blue Bloods.

Film credits include the X-Men feature film Dark Phoenix, Jason Bourne, Django Unchained, and Blood Diamond.

Essandoh’s initial theatrical experience was done on a dare while studying chemical engineering at Cornell University. His first major role was as ‘Titembay’ in the indie film Garden State. He has appeared onstage with luminaries such as Meryl Streep.

Known for his roles in Cloud Atlas and Interstellar on the film side, Gyasi has quickly become a fan favorite in Netflix’s original television series, The Diplomat, from creator Debora Cahn (The West Wing/Homeland). Starring Keri Russell, Gyasi takes on the role of Austin Dennison, the UK’s Foreign Secretary, in this critically acclaimed political thriller that became one of the most talked about series upon debut in 2023. The second season debuted in October 2024 with fans eagerly awaiting new episodes after its season cliffhanger. Gyasi is currently in production on season three.

Gyasi was in the second season of Amazon’s popular Carnival Row, series alongside Orlando Bloom and Cara Delevingne, as well as part of the Audibles fantasy series, Impact Winter, written by Travis Beacham.

Previously, Gyasi starred in The A Word on the BBC and Hell on the Border directed by Wes Miller.  In 2020, he starred in the fantasy drama Come Away alongside Angelina Jolie and David Oyelowo. In 2019 he was featured in Maleficent: Mistress of Evil, the sequel to Walt Disney’s 2014 box office hit Maleficent, and the action-packed thriller Cold Blood Legacy.

Other credits include the BAFTA award-winning TV Series Troy: Fall of a City (2018), where he starred as Achilles, as well as appearances in the films Hunter Killer (2018) and, Annihilation (2018). Gyasi can also be seen in the Emmy award-winning BBC mini-series Man in an Orange Shirt (2017), Panic (2014) in which he played the star role of ‘Andrew Deeley’ and in CW’s TV-series Containment (2016).

In 2012, Gyasi appeared in The Dark Knight Rises, White Heat, Red Tails, and Doctor Who. He has also starred in Beyond the Gates (2005) starring alongside John Hurt and Hugh Darcy as well as Torchwood (2005).
