During this month’s Family Caregiver Support Talk, Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Elizabeth Tarr, and Licensed Psychologist, Samantha Lang, will discuss common behavioral and emotional changes individuals with cognitive loss tend to experience, as well as review helpful tips for family caregivers to help their loved ones overcome these challenging behaviors. This talk aims to provide caregivers a safe space to ask the hard questions and to walk away with resources to help them care for themselves and their loved one as they adapt to their roles.
This talk is part of the 92Y Program for Cognitive Strength and Ability Caregiver Support Series. The Caregiver Support Series is conducted monthly, via Zoom. These live programs are free and open to the community. Each month features an expert speaker in the field of Cognitive Loss, Health, Mental Health or Caregiving and Quality of Life Enrichment. The goal of the Caregiver Support Program is to connect people who have a loved one dealing with cognitive loss with different types of information and resources as well as with others in similar situations. We end each meeting by giving participants the chance to receive virtual support by entering small breakout rooms where they can connect with each other in a setting moderated by a member of our staff. Monthly topics and speakers are posted on the 92Y site. All talks are recorded and available for viewing after the session.
