Ruth Goodman, Director of the Israeli Dance Institute, succeeded Fred Berk as Director of 92NY’s Jewish/Israeli Dance Division and Director of the Israel Folk Dance Festival. For more than 40 years, together with Danny Uziel, she has led 92NY’s internationally recognized Wednesday night Israeli Folk Dance Session. She is the founder and director of the Parparim Ensemble of Israeli Dance and Song, is an editor of Rokdim-Nirkoda magazine, a bilingual Hebrew/English publication and an author of the article, “Israeli Folk Dance Pioneers in North America,” published in Jewish Women: A Comprehensive Historical Encyclopedia. Ms. Goodman has served as consultant to Broadway choreographers Danny Daniels, Lynne Taylor-Corbett and Patricia Birch and is on the faculty of the American Academy of Ballet Summer School. For the video “Night on the Sea of Galilee” filmed in Israel, she wrote the narration and presents the background and development of Israeli folk dance. Ms. Goodman conducts dance programs and workshops for teachers, children and adults throughout the Americas and has participated in numerous tours to Israel where she has performed and directed Israeli music and dance. Ruth Goodman holds a Master of Arts degree in Dance Education from Columbia University Teachers College and a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics from City College of New York.

Danny Pollock has been teaching Israeli and International Folk Dance, his chosen vocation, for nearly four decades. He has led dance classes, sessions, and workshops for adults and children of all ages, at Y’s, JCC’s, schools, synagogues, dance sessions, and more, throughout the NY Metropolitan area and beyond. Danny has taught in multiple departments of 92NY, including afterschool programs for mainstream as well as special needs children, 92NY’s Camps and Nursery School, and the Himan Brown 60+ Program, where he continues to serve as folk dance instructor. Danny Pollock has been teaching Israeli and International Folk Dance, his chosen vocation, for nearly four decades. He has led dance classes, sessions, and workshops for adults and children of all ages, at Y’s, JCC’s, schools, synagogues, dance sessions, and more, throughout the NY Metropolitan area and beyond. Danny has taught in multiple departments of 92NY, including afterschool programs for mainstream as well as special needs children, 92NY’s Camps and Nursery School, and the Himan Brown 60+ Program, where he continues to serve as folk dance instructor. Danny has served on staff at multiple dance camps and weekends, including Hora Keff, Shorashim, and Mainewoods Dance Camp, and has performed with multiple Israeli dance troupes through the years, most notably with Ruth Goodman’s Parparim Ensemble of Israeli Dance and Song. He has also led teacher-training workshops, and has choreographed a repertoire of dances for children as well as “chair” dances for senior adults. In addition to his folk dance work, Danny has created a specially crafted program combining Chair Yoga, Qigong, Body Strengthening, and Chair Dance, which he teaches at multiple senior centers and programs in the New York area.
