Watercolor Painting for Absolute Beginners

- Watercolor brushes: A variety of round and flat brushes in a range of sizes including a 1" flat and #8 round
- Watercolor paper: Recommended weight: 140lb, cold press (Arches Watercolor is great)
- White plastic palette for laying out tube colors with ample surface for mixing
- 2 plastic cups for water (old yogurt containers or mason jars are great)
- Pencils (2H, H, 2B) and eraser for sketching

- Watercolor Paper: 140 lb cold press (pad or block), 7 “ x 10”, 9” x 12”, or 10” x 14”, Dick Blick, Winsor Newton or Arches. Dick Blick Watercolor cold press block 140 lb (least expensive and best for beginners)
- Palettes should have at least 10 wells/depressions and should have ample flat surface area for mixing colors. Mijello Fusion Airtight, John Pike palette (studio palette), etc. Each of these palettes has a cover which makes it easy to travel.
