Machine Quilting for Beginners

Supply List:

Please bring the following supplies with you to the first class, as we will start cutting and sewing on day one.

Estimated Supply Costs: $100-$125

A beginner quilting class that covers 4 patchwork blocks, creating the quilt sandwich, and finishing with binding. This class will cover using a rotary cutter and ruler. There may be a bit of homework. Students should have experience using a sewing machine.

  • Quilting cotton: 2 or more colors, 1 yard each for Quilt top. Alternatively, you can upcycle home linens like sheets or table cloths.
  • Rotary cutter: 45mm
  • Clear quilting ruler: 6”x24”
  • Thread: 100% Polyester (Coats & Clark or Gutermann)
  • Straight Pins: 1.5”
  • Scissors suitable for cutting
Supplies needed for 5th & 6th classes:
  • Quilting cotton: 1 yard for Quilt back
  • Batting: Craft or Crib size
  • Safety Pins: 2” (size 3)
