Intro to Beaded Jewelry Part II

For each class please bring:
Cloth to work on, small sharp scissors, cloth measuring tape, hypo cement or clear nail polish,
 & paper and pencil.  Magnification, if needed.
 
Additional supplies to be discussed in class.
 
Supplies Needed for 1st Class:  Week 1
 
1SPIRAL ROPE – BASIC INSTRUCTION **   Seed  Beadwork  Stiff English beading needles #10,  Japanese (no  Chinese) Seed beads: 6/0 (1 color) and 8/0 (1 or more colors)   Thread:  Nymo D (or equivalent) or Fireline 6lb., bee’s wax.  Project may be a necklace or a bracelet
 
2.  SPIRAL ROPE ENDINGS   same as Week 1 – finishing project…..closing the bangle and adding drops or daggers to the necklace for a lariat & adding closures.
 
3. & 4.  KNOTTING WITH SPACE BETWEEN BEADS ON CARDED SILK **
   Griffin carded silk #5 or #4, an assortment of fresh water pearls and /or assorted glass or  semi-precious beads.  T-pin or hat pin, 11/0 and/or 15/0 seed beads. Bead tips. Clasp for single strand necklace.  Instructor will provide bead tips.
 
5. & 6.  WIRE WRAPPED EYES, HEAD PINS, EYE PINS AND CHAIN.
     Chain nose pliers, round nose pliers and wire cutters. May use studio tools.
     Assortment of copper wire for practice: 26g, 24g, 22g, 20g.  small spools
     2ft – 3ft of chain   Assortment of beads.  Clasp
     Note:  Artistic Wire  and Para Wire are colored copper (do not buy Brass or Tinned Copper)
      Copper) available in lots of colors.
 
**Some supplies available from Instructor:  seed beads : 8/0 & 6/0, Beading needles, Bee's wax,  Fireline, Carded silk  #4 or #5, pearls, glass beads, etc.  Cash only and no IOU's, please.
