Drawing with Pastel
Instructors: Eva Nikolova, Melanie Baker, Maceo Mitchell
Supply list for Eva Nikolova:
- 1 box 60 or 30 half sticks (Recommended Brand: Rembrandt Soft Pastels). Do not buy oil pastels
- Prismacolor Nupastel set (this is an optional item but I do recommend the box of 96 pastels)
- 1 pad around 14” x 17” (Recommended Brands: Strathmore 500 series charcoal paper in Assorted Tints; Canson Mi-Tientes Pad; Canson Mi-Teintes Spiral Pad (if purchasing this, you do not need tracing paper))
- Tracing paper (to protect drawings)
- Vine charcoal
- Plastic eraser
- Cheapest ¾” flat synthetic watercolor brush
- 3 large bulldog clips
Supply List for Melanie Baker:
- 1 pad drawing paper 14” x18” - 18” x 24”
- (Stonehenge, Canson Mi‐Tients or Strathmore toned charcoal paper)
- Set of at least 12 soft pastels, not oil pastels (Sennelier or Unison, Nupastels are fine as starters and as additional)
- Glassine or Tracing paper to protect drawings
- “Staedtler” brand mars plastic white eraser and/or peel‐off eraser pencil.
- kneaded rubber eraser
- Soft vine charcoal 4‐5 medium sticks
- Compressed charcoal
- Variety of graphite pencils in various hardness, example H, 2H, 4H, B, 2B,4B
- Small Chamois Cloth or blue work towels from hardware store
Supply list for Maceo Mitchell:
- Set of Rembrandt 1/2 stick pastels the set of 30 is fine.
- Charcoal pencils, 1 ed., 1 soft
- Charcoal pad.
- A Kneaded Eraser.
- A Color Wheel.
- A Sketch Book.
