Bookmaking Technique: Hardcover Books

Supply List:

• Two brushes for spreading adhesive (recommended: one about 2” wide, one a that’s smaller size)
• Masking tape or removeable painter’s tape (recommended)
• Scissors
• X-acto knife
• Sharpie marker, pen, and pencil with eraser
• Book binder’s board (“Lineco Acid-Free Binder’s Board 15 x 20.5in” 1-pack from Dick Blick or “Davey’s Binder Board 9x11.5in” 1 or 2 pieces from Talas Book Supply. Thinnest thickness is okay
• Bookbinder’s awl
• Bookbinding thread (linen recommended), and bookbinding needle
• Bone folder tool

Additional/Optional Supply List:

• Book cloth or decorative paper for covers (color and style of your choosing. Talas has a great selection online)
• Cutting mat
