Women: Reflections on Sex, Solitude, Work, Motherhood, Self-Esteem and the State of Women Today

Sep 30, 2002

Licensed psychologist Dr. Dale Atkins moderates a panel discussion about “sex, solitude, work, motherhood, self-esteem, and the state of women today.” This panel was organized in anticipation of the new anthology, The Bitch in the House: 26 Women Tell the Truth About Sex, Solitude, Work, Motherhood, and Marriage (2003). Panelists are all contributing authors to The Bitch in the House, and include Natalie Angier, author of Woman: An Intimate Geography (1999); Hope Edelman, author of Motherless Daughters: The Legacy of Loss (1994); Pam Houston, author of Cowboys are My Weakness (1992); Vivian Gornick, author of Fierce Attachments (1987); and the anthology’s editor, Cathi Hanauer. Each speaker reads an excerpt from their essay before engaging in a moderated discussion with the panel. The discussion is followed by questions from the audience.
