Tommy Dorfman has won critical acclaim and a wide following as the queer, intellectual high school zine editor Ryan Shaver on Netflix’s hit original series 13 Reasons Why — his very first professional gig.

An Atlanta native and Fordham grad, he has quickly become an advocate for gay rights, winning the first ever GLAAD Rising Star Award for using his platform to accelerate LGBTQ acceptance. As Dorfman supports Season 2 of 13 Reasons and his new role on Jenji Kohan’s new series, American Princess, hear from this talented young star on his breakthrough role and how he’s using his acting career as a platform for activism and change.
