None of us will ever forget the events of September 11, 2001 and the aftermath of the attack. But the events that led to that terrible day took place mostly under the radar of the media – and all over the world. That part of the story is captured poignantly by Blindspot: The Road to 9/11, the eight-episode podcast from HISTORY and WNYC Studios that’s hosted by award-winning WNYC reporter Jim O’Grady. It tells the story of FBI agents and terrorists, public events and private meetings, signs missed and opportunities lost. Jim O’ Grady — who was part of the team that covered 9/11 for The New York Times — talks with longtime 92Y host Budd Mishkin, discussing the story behind the story of Blindspot: The Road to 9/11.

Jim O’Grady is an award-winning reporter and editor at WNYC. He is also the host of the podcast Blindspot: The Road to 9/11, a co-production of HISTORY and WNYC Studios. “Blindspot is an incredible achievement,” said Atlantic magazine on naming it one of the best podcasts of 2020. Previously, Jim worked at The New York Times, the NYU Department of Journalism, and Lenny’s Clam Bar on City Island, where he shucked oysters.

Budd Mishkin

Budd Mishkin has been a broadcast journalist for almost forty years. He is an anchor/correspondent for 1010 WINS. Mishkin spent 25 years as an anchor/reporter for NY1 and was one of the journalists who helped found New York City’s 24 hour cable news channel in 1992. He’s interviewed countless influential artists and luminaries for radio and television and has created and hosted many nights of conversation at 92nd Street Y with Gloria Steinem, Bob Costas, Tim Gunn, Pete Hamill, Wynton Marsalis, Ed Koch, Steven Van Zandt, and many more. Mishkin is still trying to become the 47th Beatle.
