The Genius of Rube Goldberg

Mar 10, 2014

Not many of us make it into the dictionary as an adjective. But then again, Rube Goldberg is no ordinary noun. He was a cartoonist, humorist, sculptor, author, engineer, and inventor, and in his seventy-two-year career, he wrote and illustrated nearly fifty thousand cartoons, which were syndicated in daily newspapers throughout the world. His granddaughter, the designer Jennifer George joins cartoonist Al Jaffee and New Yorker writer Adam Gopnik and cartoon historian Brian Walker to look back at the life and work of this quintessential American cartoonist.
