Cornel West: 40 Years of a Hidden State of Emergency

Sep 27, 2008

Occupy Wall Street recently renewed protests in New York and called for supporters to skip work today, part of a May 1 General Strike initiative. So it's back in the headlines. But for Cornel West, who spoke with Tavis Smiley at 92Y in 2008 as the financial crisis was breaking over our heads, headlines never reflect the real crisis. What do you think?

Tavis Smiley is the host of the late-night television talk show "Tavis Smiley" on PBS and "The Tavis Smiley Show" from Public Radio International. Cornel West is a prominent and provocative democratic intellectual.  He is the Class of 1943 University Professor at Princeton University.
