Stephen B. Shepard and Norman Pearlstine: Journalism in the Digital Age

Sep 20, 2012

Founding Dean of CUNY Graduate School of Journalism Stephen B. Shepard sits down with Bloomberg L.P. Chief Content Officer Norman Pearlstine , part of 92Y's Captains of Industry series in partnership with Bloomberg Businessweek, to discuss journalism in the new digital age. In this clip, Shepard recounts what it was like starting a brand new journalism school in New York City at the on set of a new digital journalism age. Upon starting the new school, Shepard says he knew the days of traditional journalism were long gone and he would  have to teach students how to cover stories in a different way, one geared more toward an online viewer who looks at one story for three minutes rather than the traditional newspaper reader looking through a paper for 45 minutes.
