Sec. Julián Castro in Conversation with The Washington Post’s Jonathan Capehart

Apr 22, 2019

Julián Castro spent his childhood in a working-class neighborhood in San Antonio, TX—and went on to become the city’s mayor in 2009 and the secretary of housing and urban development in 2014.

And in January, Castro returned to the same working-class neighborhood where he grew up to announce his run for the Democratic Party’s nomination for President. The youngest member of President Obama’s cabinet says he is running so that “the promise of America is there for everyone.” Come hear him talk with The Washington Post’s Jonathan Capehart about how he would make that happen, and where he sees America going.
