Sally Field to Steven Spielberg: "You're Wrong, Steven... You're Wrong"

Nov 13, 2012

Sally Field appeared in our Reel Pieces™ with Annette Insdorf series. In this clip, Annette asks Sally about the behind the scenes fight she fought to keep the role of Mary Lincoln in the new movie Lincoln. Sally recounts the story of initially being told by legendary director Steven Spielberg that he didn't see her playing the part of Mary Lincoln, only to tell him "you're wrong Steven, you're wrong." Spielberg ended up giving her the opportunity to test with Daniel Day-Lewis, and on the car ride home Sally got the call from Steven and Daniel asking "will you be our Mary?"
